On Saturday the 9th March 2024 we set off on a Parish Lenten Pilgrimage to Dublin. We spent a wonderful morning in Catherine McAuley’s House in Baggot Street. This was the first house of Mercy built by Catherine McCauley in response to the needs of the poor in Dublin. We attended Mass at the beautiful Baggot Street Chapel, the Mass was celebrated by Fr. Seán Maher. After Mass we all retired to the dinning room for a “good cup of tea” and a scone. We were then given a tour of the Mercy International Centre where we were given an account of the life and vision of Catherine McCauley.
We then made our way to The National Concert Hall to the John Fields Room where we enjoyed an array of ” Psalms and Songs”. The John Fields Room provided a cosy atmosphere for us all to enjoy this wonderful performance.
We concluded the day with a beautiful lunch at the Hamlet Court Hotel in Johnstownbridge.
Overall we all had a wonderful day and are all very much looking forward to the next Parish Pilgrimage.
