Easter Cermonies – Broadford, Johnstownbridge, and Clogherinkoe

Holy Thursday: Mass of the Lord’s Supper in Johnstownbridge at 7.30p.m. People are invited to spend some time in prayer before the Altar of Repose after this ceremony. The church will remain open until 10 p.m. Please return your Trocaire boxes on Holy Thursday or on Easter Sunday.

Good Friday: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion in Broadford Church at 3.00 p.m.
Stations of the Cross in Johnstownbridge Church and Clogherinkoe Church at 7.30 p.m.
Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence.

Holy Saturday: Confessions in Johnstownbridge Church from 10.00 to 11.00 a.m., Broadford Church from 11.15 a.m. to 12 and in Clogherinkoe Church from 12.15 to 1.00 p.m.
Celebration of the Easter Vigil in Clogherinkoe Church at 7.30 p.m.

Easter Sunday: Dawn Mass of the Resurrection in Johnstownbridge Church at 10.00 a.m. Morning Mass of the Resurrection in Broadford Church at 11.30 a.m.
The Easter Collection for the priest of the parish will be taken up at all masses on Easter Sunday.

St. Valentine’s Day

Ash Wednesday

ashThis year Ash Wednesday falls on the 17th February. Ash Wednesday begins the Penitential Season of Lent. Blessed ashes will be distributed at the 10am Mass in Clogherinkoe Church and the 7.30pm Mass in Broadford Church.

Feast Day of St. Blaise

blessingWednesday 3rd February is the Feast Day of St. Blaise. St. Blaise is the Patron Saint of people who suffer from throat ailments. The traditional blessing of throats will be incorporated into the 10am mass in Clogherinkoe Church.

Candlemas Day

candleTuesday, February 2nd is the Feast Day of Presentation of the Lord(Candlemas Day). The 10am Mass in Broadford Church will include a blessing of candles for church and home use.

Feast Day of St. Brigid

The Feast Day of St. Brigid is on Monday 1st February. St. Brigid is the Secondary Patron Saint of Ireland and is the Patroness of our Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin. The Church in Clogherinkoe is dedicated to St. Brigid.
